Veronica Sandoval, PhD, JD

Principal, Patient Inclusion and Health Equity, Genentech

Veronica has over seven years’ experience in medical affairs and has supported different therapeutic areas, including asthma, inflammatory bowel disease, osteoporosis, overactive bladder, female sexual dysfunction, autism spectrum disorder, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, and influenza. She also practiced as a litigation attorney focusing on complex patent litigation in the life sciences and pharmaceutical fields.

Veronica joined Roche-Genentech in 2018 as a Global Medical Collaboration Lead supporting the early clinical development program for autism. Her direct contributions resulted in informing and shaping the medical strategy for the autism program, while fostering scientific partnerships both externally and internally. Most recently, she was a Medical Science Liaison in the California-Hawaii ecosystem supporting the respiratory portfolio. Currently, Veronica works as a Principal in Patient Inclusion and Health Equity within Genentech’s Chief Diversity Office.

As a child of migrant farm workers, Veronica understands the struggles and hardships that the LatinX community faces. She is committed to advocate and to partner with underrepresented communities to address health equity issues and ensure patients have access to care.

Veronica holds a B.A. in molecular and cell biology from the University of California, Berkeley, a Ph.D. in neuropharmacology from the University of Utah, and a J.D. from Seattle University School of Law. She lives in San Diego and enjoys spending time on the water sailing with her husband and two sons.
