Cesar Castro, MD

Associate Professor of Medicine, Harvard Medical School

Dr. Castro is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School as well as Director of the Gynecologic Oncology Program — MGH Cancer Center, Director of the Cancer Program — MGH Center for Systems Biology, and Faculty Co-Director for Research — MGH Center for Diversity and Inclusion. He is a translational oncologist with deep experience leveraging nanotechnology and molecular imaging for solid tumor detection and serial profiling. He serves on the steering committee for the National Cancer Institute Liquid Biopsy Consortium and is Chair of the MGB Phase I Cancer Clinical Trials IRB.

Dr. Castro graduated from the University of California, Berkeley and received his medical degree from the UCSF School of Medicine, where he also completed his Internal Medicine residency training. He completed an adult oncology fellowship from the Dana-Farber / Mass General Brigham Cancer Care program. During this period, he also received a MMSc from Harvard Medical School. Dr. Castro has received independent funding from the National Institutes of Health, Department of Defense, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and Ovarian Cancer Research Fund, among various other sources.
