Daniel B. Wolfson is the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the ABIM Foundation, a not-for-profit focused on advancing medical professionalism and physician leadership to improve the health care system. Mr. Wolfson leads the Foundation’s Building Trust agenda, which includes a variety of activities designed to increase organizational trust, promote the imperative of trusting science and facts, and increase equity and reduce systemic racism in the U.S. health care system. Mr. Wolfson also leads the Choosing Wisely® campaign, a multi-year effort that has engaged more than 80 specialty societies to promote conversations between clinicians and patients about utilizing the most appropriate tests and treatments and avoiding care that may be unnecessary and could cause harm.

Mr. Wolfson was previously the President and CEO of the Alliance of Community Health Plans, where he spearheaded the creation of the Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS). Prior to that, he was the Director of Planning and Research at Fallon Community Health Plan. During that time, he led the product development team that launched the first Medicare risk contract.

Mr. Wolfson received his master’s degree in health services administration from the University of Michigan School of Public Health.
