Originally from the Dallas area, Priyanka moved to Boston in 2015 to pursue a Bachelors of Science in Health: Science, Society, and Policy from Brandeis University. After graduating in 2019, Priyanka committed to a year of service with FoodCorps and was able to serve the Chelsea community at Healthy Chelsea through nutrition and garden educational lessons and assist with efforts to combat food insecurity in the city. In 2020, Priyanka started as the Health Equity Corps Research Organizer at GreenRoots, a community based grassroots organization in Chelsea. As an organizer, Priyanka connected residents impacted by COVID-19 to critical resources and published a report titled COVID-19 in Chelsea: A Glance Into One of the Hardest Hit Cities and the Role of Intersecting Social Determinants of Health. The report examined Chelsea’s social determinants of health and the city’s vulnerability to the pandemic. Priyanka has since transitioned to a new role as GreenRoot’s Development Coordinator and is writing grants for the organization. Priyanka is passionate about nutrition, public health, and building community.
