Sanja Percac-Lima, MD, PhD, MPH

Dr. Sanja Percac-Lima is an associate professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School and a primary care physician at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH). She received her MD and PhD from the University of Zagreb School of Medicine in Croatia. After coming to the United States, she completed a fellowship in medical education at Harvard Medical School, an internal medicine residency at Newton-Wellesley Hospital in Newton, Massachusetts, and fellowship in geriatrics at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. She returned to Massachussets in 2002 and since then has been working at MGH Chelsea Community Health Center serving ethnically diverse, low-income , immigrant populations. Her research is focused on developing patient navigation programs to improve cancer screening and treatment. She developed nationally known patient navigation program for colorectal cancer screening that eliminated disparities in cancer screening. As the MGH physician leader for cancer outreach she further developed breast cancer screening navigation program for refugee women, navigation for lung cancer screening and most recently patient navigation program for newly diagnosed underserved patients with cancer to receive navigation during cancer treatment.
